Nocturne-?@#^&*!-Sojourn was composed in Nice, France (1994, revised in Austin, Texas 1998, revised in Oberlin, Ohio 2007). This solo piano piece can be performed with or without a dancer in the role of the page turner. The promise of the lullaby is unfulfilled, the nightmare falters and staggers through blurred episodes, and the caress of the daydream heals the abrasion.
